Inuit uses and needs for weather, water, ice and climate information and services in NunavutWeather, water, ice, and climate (WWIC) information and services do not meet the needs of Inuit and northerners. The goal of our north-south collaborative project was to build a broader understanding of available WWIC information, and how it is shared and used in Nunavut. We will present the results of 360 questionnaires facilitated by Local Research Coordinators (LRCs) in 8 Nunavut communities. We will highlight community-identified: 1) travel habits; 2) environmental conditions that inform decision-making about travel safety; 3) sources of environmental information used from community and polar service providers; and 4) training interests. We will share key messages highlighted by LRCs for service providers and community organizations. Ultimately, we aim to contribute to improved services to support safe travel in Nunavut.
